Just an update on what is going on at Thumbuddy Special…
Golf Outing is the 22nd of July, it is not too late to get your foursome in…let me know.
On the 24th of June, I met with our friends at BCD Meetings and Incentives for a meet and greet lunch. BCD has supported TS with a toy drive, money donations and reaching out to their family and friends with the raffle sale. Our friend Tommy, who received a augmentative communication device from TS was on hand to present to Scott Graf and his employees the Generous Hearts Award. Tommy even had a well timed joke with….”sometimes my family drives me crazy” line from his device. Their wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Too cute!
We are awarding the 2011 “Gift of Gab” scholarship to Franco, a 21 yr old young man who is diagnosed with Dystonia. He is not able to talk and the DynaVox is his voice. This DynaVox communication device will aide him in college this fall.
Here is a quote from Franco’s letter:
This device has great software for word and sentence production, which allows me to produce any word or combination of words needed to communicate in college classes. In addition, I will be able to download class books for reading, store photographs and music and email or text my friends or instructors.
The DynaVox Meastro will allow me to continue my education and reach my goal of achieving a degree in computer technology. Without the Meastro, this will be difficult if not impossible. It will also support my goal to live independently in the near future.
