Friends….
Just an update on the fabulous Golf Outing that Thumbuddy Special hosted on Friday.
Really, if you are having a little trouble with your faith lately, think about how the Dear Lord provided us an 8 hour window between 2 major storms to get that one in! What a great day! God is Amazing!
Franco and Natalie were inspirational! Franco was awarded with a Meastro DynaVox Communication Device. We also provided a 4 year warranty on the device for any breakage etc. This scholarship is awarded yearly in Joan and Jim McCann’s name, it truly is the Gift of Gab! Franco is diagnosed with Dystonia, he has normal cognitive ability, but his motor control is greatly impacted and he has a very difficult time talking…We virtually gave him his “Voice”. Franco is going onto college in the fall and we have all the confidence in the world in him and his aspirations.
This past 6 months have been very difficult for Natalie, her mom passed away this past winter. When we heard about her story we were moved to help her aunt purchase a new van with a lift for Natalie to go to college and to her doctor appointments. Her teacher at Elgin High School held a fundraiser for Natalie and Thumbuddy Special donated 5,000 towards the van. Natalie awarded her teacher, Kevin, with the “Just Do It” award at the dinner. He was thrilled, as was our sweet friend Natalie!
So proud of all our efforts to help these special adults. I didn’t meet Franco and Natalie until that night and I just knew what an inspiration they would be to us and our supporters.
As stated so often before, we are blessed to be in this position to help others.
THANK YOU, FOR YOUR GENEROUS HEARTS AND TIME. You do realize that you are helping change the life of these 2 wonderful kids along with the many kids that we help through out the year.
