Friends of Thumbuddy Special:
Hope you are enjoying the turn of the seasons. I love the fall season with Football starting up, basketball and hockey around the corner and the end to a dismal baseball season on both ends of town. We now have a Cheerleader, Cecilia, who was one of the recipients of our “Gift of Gab” Scholarship. 12 friends received assistive communication devices or various adaptations to existing devices to help them communicate. We are proud of this scholarship and grateful for your support in making these wishes come true. Here is the thank you that we received from Cecilia’s mom. “Thank you for the assistive listening device and microphone you purchased for my daughter Cecilia. In the last 2 months we have had so many opportunities to use it and it has made such a difference in her ability to participate and communicate! We spent sometime in Colorado and having it on the trip really helped her get the most from the experience. We toured Cave of the Winds, and since she relies so much on her sight, I didn’t think she would tolerate the darkness. Our tour guide wore her microphone and Cecilia was fascinated by the entire experience! One of the primary reasons we wanted the device for her was so she could join cheer and be able to hear and participate in spite of all the back ground noise. As you can see from the enclosed pictures, she is thriving and loving every minute of it! I am so proud of her and so grateful to you for all your dedication to children with special needs and providing equipment that helps them excel!!!”

Thumbuddy Special has been busy this month, purchasing an adapted stroller, an adapted bike, a modified bed, lift for inside a house and we sponsored a Train Trip through WSSRA. We are thrilled to help our special children and their families.
Thumbuddy Special is now gearing up for our busy season of hope and assistance. We have the Mom’s Day Out Event in November, our Happy Hour for our Christmas Giving Program on the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend, the Polar Express and of course, our Needy Family Toy Drive. I will keep you posted on how you can help in next month’s email.
