Friends of Thumbuddy Special:
Well, it took awhile, but we did survive the Great Flood of 2013! The Bowling Night was on Friday, the day after the storm. It didn’t deter a soul! Of course the travel times were horrible, but everyone just relaxed and had a great time! Big Huge thanks to the future of Thumbuddy Special, Allison Durnell, Angela Riggio, Sarah Paul and Danielle Dietz. What an event they put together, fabulous baskets on the raffles and magnificent family support.
The Kids were adorable! Sammy received a new adapted bike, Yalina was there to sing the National Anthem (there wasn’t a dry eye in the house) and our Mia donated a weekly portion of her allowance to Thumbuddy Special. Thumbuddy Special awarded our “Just Have Fun” Scholarship to West Suburban Special Recreation, a $10,000 grant for kids to have fun this summer, in loving memory of Brian McGarry. Thanks to all who attended this wonderful evening and to our friends who donated to those great baskets.
This month we are selling raffle tickets for our cash raffle, the winner to be drawn at the May Board Meeting on May 28th. Big thanks to all of our raffle sellers and buyers. It’s not too late to get in on the action! Just let me know!
This month we also purchased a bike for Natalia, a sweet little girl with Cerebral Palsy. Natalia will be receiving her bike at the Happy Hour in May. Details are attached.
We are working on our “Gift of Gab” Scholarship, in loving memory of Joan McCann. Several children will be receiving new communication devices or an iPad in the upcoming months.
Great things are happening here at Thumbuddy Special. We are proud of our mission and beyond grateful for your support.
