On November 21st, Thumbuddy Special sponsored its first Mom’s Day Outing. Eight moms of physically challenged children were picked up in a Limo and treated to a day of pampering. They shopped for themselves at Yorktown, went to LiRosa in Lombard for “pampering”, and onto a fabulous dinner from our friends at Carlucci’s in Downers Grove. What a day! The moms relaxed, cried, laughed and connected with each other. It truly captured the spirit of what Thumbuddy Special is all about. These moms felt like they were “Thumbuddy Special”!
Dear Thumbuddy Special,
With this little note we want to give you sincere thanks for making possible such a big dream of our daughter Lissette having a bicycle that is so nice. This bicycle that is adapted especially for her serves as therapy for her legs, especially for the leg that she cannot move. We never would have been able to buy this for her, since it’s so expensive. But thanks to you all, and to all those that give their donations and make so much possible for these children with special needs. I want to tell you Mary Ellen, that we so appreciate the speed that this process took of getting the bicycle to Lissette, and that she enjoys it so much.
Thank you to you and the sea of people who have made this gift possible. We are eternally grateful.
May God bless you and always and help you much with your donations so that you may continue making possible the dreams of the many children in need.

Parents of Lissette
Dear Thumbuddy Special,
We would like to show our deeply appreciation for covering the cost of the Vantage communication device. This very sophisticated communication device will open the world of communication for our son Tomasz. When Tomasz was born we saw him the in the future as regular child. After a few months he was diagnosed with neurological disorder that causes very low muscle tone, gross and fine motor skills delays and which left him speechless.
Our sons teacher needed six months to learn that he knows a lot. If he could talk ti would take just a few weeks. Nobody except us understands him. As the time goes by, we are more puzzled what he wants to say to us. We try to guess but sometimes we simply give up and Tomasz also gives up after a few tries.
The Vantage communication device will simply unlock our world in terms of communication with our son. He will be able to say what he wants, what he thinks, what he likes the most and what he is afraid of. He will be able to communicate with us and his little brother. This device will help him to communicate with his teachers and helps him to learn to write and read. Everyone who knows him will discover a new person simply because he will be able to communicate.
Thank you one more time for your generosity, understanding and willingness to help.
Very Best Regards,
Bozena and Richard
